It is an early October morning, c. 1800 as Dr. Edward Hand prepares to leave his 177 acre home at Rockford Plantation and ride out to see a patient in Lancaster city. Dr. Hand, formerly General Edward Hand, retired in 1783 from his historic service to George Washington and the fledgling American nation. After commanding forces from Bunker Hill to the British surrender at Yorktown, the Doctor has returned to Lancaster to build his home and return to practicing medicine and being a civic leader in Lancaster.
